Sex differences in perinatal stroke
Using advanced MRI to understand why females affected by perinatal stroke are more likely to be diagnosed late, comparing silent and symptomatic presentations.
Perinatal stroke happens around the time of birth, but it is not always recognized right away—and the delay is greater for some children than others. This project uses advanced brain imaging to investigate sex differences in perinatal stroke, comparing children whose stroke was silent with those who had clear early symptoms.
By understanding why females are at greater risk of delayed diagnosis, we hope to help every child be recognized and supported sooner.
